BC Disability Games

History

The Games were hosted by the Canadian Wheelchair Sports Association - BC Division from 1968-1984. From 1985 the Games were under the direction of BC Sport and Fitness Council for the Disabled.

In 1995 the Games underwent a name change and became officially known as the BC Games for Athletes with a Disability.

And in 2000 another name change brought forth the BC Disability Games under the direction of Council's new name; BC Disability Sports.

The latest change, in 2008, brings the Games and the charitable organization together under one name; BC Disability Games.

In 1993, the BC Sport and Fitness Council for the Disabled formed a partnership with the BC Games Society and the Games became one of five sets of multi-sport Games which are the BC Family of Games- the BC Summer Games, BC Winter Games, BC Northern Winter Games, BC Seniors Games and the BC Disability Games.
